My copious free time is not so copious these days, so I will be watching only two extra anime series starting this fall season. If I had more time, I would be trying to watch a couple more. But even with just two extra shows to watch besides Umineko no Naku Koro ni, I won’t have enough time to blog either one of them.
Still, there is the small urge to blog about them even if it means one-liners, which would not quite fit here among the long and detailed posts. In fact, it made me go out and create Terse Anime, where one-line episode summaries are not a sign of laziness but rather the whole point. (I don’t have enough time, and yet I found the time to create a new website. Hmm …) I don’t expect the summaries to be particularly descriptive of anime episodes, though: what I’m hoping for are amusing one-liners.
However, if you go to Terse Anime right now, I’m the only one who has posted one-line summaries, and they might not be particularly witty. (Well, I think they’re somewhat witty, but I’m biased.) Which is why I am soliciting contributors who would microblog specific anime series. With the fall season starting, this would be a good time for recruits to start out with the ton of new anime series that I won’t be able to watch.
If you’re interested, then send me email with the following items:
- The user name you want to be displayed on the site. Spaces are allowed; punctuation is not allowed except for periods, hyphens, and underscores.
- The anime series you want to microblog about. Umineko no Naku Koro ni, Darker than Black 2, and Kimi ni Todoke have already been taken up by yours truly. The series page will have an up-to-date list of anime series that have been taken up.
- A couple of sample one-line episode summaries for any anime series to show your wit.
Contributors will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis, unless two people want to handle the same anime series at the same time, in which case I’ll pick the one I consider more amusing. A contributor would only have to write one line to sum up an anime episode, so it shouldn’t be too much work: just spend a few minutes writing something witty after watching an episode. Once accepted as a contributor, I will set up their account and tell them what should be done.
The call for contributors is open until October 31, 2009. What happens afterwards with regards to recruiting new members or even what to do if no one volunteers, well, I’ll leave that problem for later.
The inspiration for Terse Anime came not just from a lack of time, but also from the funny Reduced Ranma Fanfiction archive I came across back in my fanfic reading days, which in turn was based on T.H.E.M.‘s now-defunct reduced anime archive.
