Timeline for Umineko no Naku Koro ni III

Acting? Or real feeling?

Now that the third arc of Umineko no Naku Koro ni is over, it is time to organize the timeline for what had happened as I did for the first arc and second arc. Given that we cannot trust what we see on screen, the exact times when certain events happen may not be reliable. The timeline below is constructed assuming that the specified events did happen based on what we were shown, but its unreliability should be kept in mind. It’s not even certain whether certain people were murdered or committed suicide, and in all cases I just say they were killed.

Red truths

As in the second arc, certain red truths that can be trusted have been revealed, although this time Beatrice is not the only one to state them.

About Beatrice’s death

These truths were revealed while Rosa explained how she was responsible for the death of Beatrice.

As revealed by Ronove:

  • There exists a hidden mansion called the Quadorian (九羽鳥庵) in the forests of Rokkenjima.
  • In 1967, there existed Beatrice as a human in a hidden mansion on Rokkenjima.

As revealed by Beatrice:

  • Beatrice is definitely dead at this point of Rosa’s story.
  • There does not exist nineteen or more people on Rokkenjima.

About first six murders

It is a given that access to a locked room is severely restricted as it was with the red truths of the second arc. The conditions are even given a name: Beatrice’s locked room definition.

  • There are five master keys, one for each servant.
  • The six people were not killed by traps.
  • No one among the six victims committed suicide.
  • Among the six victims, … an accidental death.

Ronove stopped Beatrice from completing the last red truth.

About murder of Rosa and Maria

As revealed by Ronove:

  • Rosa and Maria were murdered.

About murder of Nanjo

As revealed by EvaBeatrice:

  • After Jessica was injured, Eva was already under Battler’s surveillance.
  • Thus, Eva has a perfect alibi for the killing of Nanjo.
  • At the time of Nanjo’s murder, Battler, Eva, Jessica were alive.
  • At the time of the murder, only Nanjo and Jessica were in the employee room.
  • Ushiromiya Jessica has not committed murder.
  • Eva and Battler were also not involved in the killing of Nanjo.
  • There is not nineteen or more people on the island.
  • Nanjo was murdered, and the perpetuator killed at a very close distance from the front without any traps.
  • Red only tells the truth.

Just to make a quick note: No clue why DEEN didn’t put this line in, but in the game Beato states (in red):

“6 people: Kinzo, Genji, Shannon, Kanon, Gohda, and Kumasawa are dead!”
